ACA WA reaches out to uni students

Advertising Council Australia has recently been conducting a number of university presentations in-person and online in Perth to help promote advertising as a career of choice and to guide students to the best pathways to “Break into the Exciting World of Advertising”.

Melissa Vella (ACA WA State Manager) kicked off the roadshow with the Curtin “Careers for Tomorrow” festival in August and since then has conducted a number of presentations to Curtin; ECU; North Metro Tafe and UWA.

Whilst the main audience has been business/marketing/communications students, the aim has been to capture the hearts and minds of students from as many degree courses in a bid to bring their diversity of thought and talent into the ad industry.

Steve Maras, Associate Professor Media and Communication (UWA) said: “Melissa delivered an exceptional presentation inspiring students interested in a career in advertising to learn more and shared valuable insights into the labour market, the roles within an agency and ultimately motivated students to continue on their paths. Her presentation received very positive feedback by students and the recording has since been watched by many students”.

If you would like to find out more about a career in advertising, Melissa has put together a line-up of some of Perth’s top agencies, to present “Get a Taste of Advertising” on 3 December, where you can get a better understanding of the different functions and roles within agencies and how they all work together to make the ads we see today.
