Advertising delivers $40bn to the Australian economy
The true economic power of Australian advertising has been revealed today in an independent study that values the industry’s contribution at $40bn over a 12 month period equating to 2.5 per cent of Australia’s total GDP (2014). The Deloitte Access Economics report, Advertising Pays: The Economic Employment and Business Value of Advertising, is the first of its kind in Australia, commissioned by The Communications Council, peak industry body for Australian advertising agencies.

APG announces BMF’s Ali Tilling as Biggest Thinker with provocative argument to end brand building
More than 140 people attended Tuesday night’s APG Battle of Big Thinking to see BMF Joint Head of Planning Ali Tilling take out the title of 2016 Biggest Thinker. Arguing that brand building is irrelevant, Ali convinced attendees with an entertaining and compelling plea for brands to be more like Robin than Batman. The analogy called on brands to deconstruct ideas, seek out imperfections and to stop creating problems to solve.

AWARD School New Zealand Applications Open Soon
AWARD School – Australia and New Zealand’s pre-eminent training program for aspiring Creatives, Copywriters and Art Directors – will release the 2016 brief for New Zealand applications on Friday 20 May. Running for more than 30 years, AWARD School is highly competitive and follows a strict selection process based on demonstrated creative potential. The 12 week intensive course will accept applications until Friday 3 June 2016, with successful applicants notified by Friday 10 June. The opening lecture will take place on Monday 27 June.
