Advertising Council Australia has announced a new one-day immersion course, Understanding Media, designed to give account managers, creatives, strategists and marketers the confidence to navigate and challenge media conversations.
The practical, no-fluff workshop will run in Perth on Thursday 31 July in collaboration with seasoned strategist Paul Hindle.
With decades of experience across agency, client and media-side roles in Australia, the UK and the US, Hindle has developed the course to bridge the knowledge gap that still exists in many client-facing roles.
“Media remains a mystery to too many people, even though it’s where most of the budget goes and heavily shapes campaign outcomes,” he said. “This course won’t turn you into a media planner, but it will give you the confidence to engage clearly and constructively with one.”
Held at Carat Perth’s boardroom, the course promises to leave attendees with:
- A grip on the six dials behind every media plan
- Clarity on media math, costs, timelines and trade-offs
- The confidence to question recommendations and back your point of view
- Real-world case studies — the good, the bad, and key learnings
- Tips for making creative and media work better together
Melissa Vella, WA State Manager, Advertising Council Australia, said: “Whether you’re in agency account service, creative, strategy or client-side marketing, Understanding Media is designed to lift your confidence and sharpen your conversations, because when you understand how media works, you make better work.”
