Advertising Council Australia
Social Content Creator
Social Content Creator
Reports to: Senior Marketing & Communications Manager | Status: Part-time / contract, approx. 3 days per week
We’re looking for a hands-on content specialist who lives and breathes social media and understands what makes people stop, watch, read and click on each channel. This isn’t a role for someone who simply schedules social posts.
A major part of the role is creating original video and social content: interviewing senior industry leaders, capturing content at ACA events, and turning interviews into sharp short-form video series. You’ll work with the Senior Marketing & Communications Manager to execute ACA’s content strategy across owned, earned and paid channels, including social, EDM, web and media.
This is a collaborative role. The Senior Marketing & Communications Manager leads ACA’s overall strategy, messaging, PR and marketing direction; you’ll turn that into a consistent flow of strong content used effectively across channels. We’re not looking for someone who waits for a fully formed brief, but someone who comes back from an event with a better story, or sees a 20-minute interview as a feature, four videos, an EDM and a social series. Everything should have a purpose: building audience, strengthening ACA’s voice, driving engagement, registrations, entries or sales.
Above all, good editorial and content judgement is key: you’ll know what works on LinkedIn versus Instagram or TikTok; what belongs in an EDM versus a social post; what makes a good media story; and when one piece of content can be adapted across several channels. Comfortable interviewing senior people and confident enough to walk into an event with a camera. Able to produce professional short-form video efficiently.
- Create end-to-end short-form video, from concept and interview through to filming, editing, and publishing, which includes:
- Interviewing senior advertising, marketing and creative leaders
- Capturing content at ACA events and courses
- Adapt content by channel rather than repurposing the same asset everywhere
- Turn interviews and events into multiple assets across social, email, web and paid media
- Develop and manage social content across LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok and Facebook
- Work with our paid media specialist to adapt content for paid campaigns
- Monitor content performance and use insights to improve output
- Keep across platform trends and practical ways AI can speed up production
- Maintain a forward content calendar across ACA’s brands
- Help develop EDM/email content: hooks, subject lines and engagement
- Support media and PR activity, including story angles and coordinating contributors
- Experience across content creation, social media, communications or digital marketing
- TikTok/Reels native: hands-on short-form video experience: filming and editing – latter with AI for efficiency
- Confidence interviewing senior leaders and drawing out usable answers
- Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills
- Understanding of organic, earned and paid content, and how they work together
- Understanding of content performance tracking
- Ability to spot a strong story or opportunity, not just execute a brief
- Strong project management across multiple brands, deadlines and stakeholders
- Confidence to bring ideas forward and challenge an approach when there’s a better way
- Experience in advertising, media, marketing, education/training, publishing or creative industries highly regarded
How to apply
Send your CV plus examples of content you’ve personally created, particularly video, social or editorial to rachael@adcouncil.org.au. A 2-minute video of why you would be right for this role would be appreciated.
- Approx. 3 days per week, varying around major campaigns and events
- Flexibility for in-person interviews, events and shoots, predominantly in Sydney; remaining work can be remote
- Must be legally entitled to work in Australia
