National Reconciliation Week 2026: A Moment to Go ‘all in’

National Reconciliation Week begins next Wednesday, 27 May – a time that asks all Australians to pause, reflect, and consider the role we each play in shaping a more just and unified future.

Led by Reconciliation Australia, the week runs until 3 June and honours two defining moments in our history: the 1967 Referendum and the Mabo decision. This year’s theme, “All In,” is a simple but powerful call: reconciliation is not passive. It asks something of all of us.

For creative agencies, that responsibility carries weight.

We are storytellers. We shape what people see, hear and understand about the world around them. And with that comes an opportunity, not just to acknowledge reconciliation, but to help make it real.

With the week approaching, there’s an opportunity to act with intention. That might mean taking steps internally – building cultural understanding through training, researching or starting a Reconciliation Action Plan, or deepening your knowledge of Country, culture and history – the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies can be a valuable place to start.

It might also mean thinking more carefully about how you show up – using your platforms with purpose, considering First Nations perspectives in your work, and finding ways to connect meaningfully with your community at one of these events.

But more than anything, it means moving forward and taking one simple step.

Reconciliation isn’t a campaign or a single moment in the calendar. It’s ongoing work. It’s listening, learning, and being willing to do things differently – even when it’s uncomfortable.

This National Reconciliation Week, the invitation is clear:

Lean in. Listen deeply. And let’s go all in.
