On March 30, Sydney’s advertising and creative community gathered to pay their respects to Jo Libline – a much-loved and respected member of the local ad industry.
Jo was the driving force behind signature industry events such as The Effies, The Work Behind The Work, AWARD Awards, and more recently This Way Up: Australia’s Advertising Festival of Creativity. She had been fighting illness for 18 months but lost her battle in January and passed away peacefully.
Industry leaders including Accenture Song ANZ President Mark Green, PCB Partners Board Advisor Matthew Melhuish, Effies Chairman of Judges Colin Wilson-Brown, ACA CEO Tony Hale and Think TV CEO Kim Portrate shared their memories of working with Jo – acknowledging her friendship, professionalism and her outstanding and far-reaching contribution to the industry.
Tony Hale said: “Jo loved the industry. The Effie and AWARD communities were like family to her. She was admired for her unflappable professionalism and loved for her colourful, wicked sense of humour. Her contribution was incomparable. She knew just about everyone in agency land, film production companies and the marketing world. Her absence leaves a void for everyone.”
ACA would like to thank everyone who attended the tribute on the night, and for the kind words shared and messages of support that have been received honouring Jo’s memory.
