2018 was another fantastic year for Youngbloods NSW.

On the events front, we continued to sell out and with bigger audiences than ever. With the industry’s leading names talking about everything from breakthrough brands to innovation, we’ve now teamed up with General Assembly as a venue partner to meet the demands for tickets. Our social events were also a hit, including 1990s Trivia and a new addition – ‘Buzzword Bingo’ #innovation #agile. The positive feedback from the events has been really encouraging.

Our member-wide survey at the beginning of the year also revealed that Youngbloods were interested in participating in more than just events – particularly upskilling and volunteering opportunities. So in response to that, we’ve now partnered with the wonderful guys at UnLtd to create a program that connects our members with pro-bono consulting opportunities. UnLtd also invited us to be an industry endorser of Mentally Healthy 2018 (the first survey into the mental health of our industry), and we couldn’t have been more proud to be involved.

Undoubtedly one of the biggest highlights of the year was being invited to verse Youngbloods Victoria in ‘The Pitch’ on The Gruen – a battle fueled with more state rivalry than Origin. In what felt like a little bit of a dream, one of Australia’s biggest names in directing put up his hand to (anonymously) help us out and shoot our pitch. So we wrote an ad that would involve as many of our members as possible, and over two days shot both in Sydney and down the South Coast – an experience not many of us will be forgetting anytime soon. We tied with VIC but definitely got robbed. There’s always next year, right?
