As Young Glory nears its end, Brisbane duo Anais Read and Matt Newman are close to finishing at the top. Both Anais and Matt are products of AWARD School, graduating in 2017 and 2016 respectively.
A global creative competition based on consistency, Young Glory is the ultimate test for young creatives wanting to prove themselves. Last season, AWARD School 2014 graduates Emma Ziesemer and Tom Kimmorley took out the title. And putting Brisbane on the map again just a year later is new creative duo, Anais Read and Matt Newman.
Anais and Matt have spent the last eight months coming up with ideas for various briefs, which are set and judged by top advertising creatives. The duo recently snagged a Gold and two Finalists for their ideas. Judged by Charlie Gschwend of Wieden+Kennedy Tokyo, teams had to encourage Japanese people to take their allotted vacations and book a holiday on Expedia. Anais and Matt were awarded the only Gold of the round, thanks to their idea; ‘Dream Holiday‘.
Similar to Emma and Tom, Anais and Matt are also from independent agencies. Anais hails from Redsuit Advertising and Matt from BCM Partnership. Now twelve months on from their win, Emma is freelancing as a copywriter in Portland, Oregon, while Tom is working as an art director at PublicisQ.
Final results and standings for Young Glory are to be released this week, with the winners heading to C2 Montreal. Anais and Matt currently sit in the top five on the leaderboard. Also, in the top five are David Jones-Hawke (AWARD School Graduate, 2010) and Serge Ozegovic (AWARD School, 2013). And, with one round of scoring to come, it’s certainly anyone’s game.
