Tony Hale Appointed Ceo Of The Communications Council
Tony Hale, previously CEO of The Newspaper Works, has been appointed CEO of The Communications Council, Australia’s peak industry body representing marketing communications agencies.
After an extensive, broad reaching search and much interest from a diverse range of candidates, the Board has unanimously agreed that Tony was the standout candidate to take the organisation forward. Future plans for The Communications Council include international partnerships with the IPA and D&AD, the invigoration of our professional development program with international IPA qualifications, the Economic Value of the Industry study, and kicking off 2015 with a Leadership forum with Dan Wieden.

AJF Partnership’s Brigitte Bayard And Pieter-Paul Von Weiler Awarded Grand Prix At 2014 Apg Creative Strategy Awards
AJF Partnership’s Brigitte Bayard and Pieter-Paul von Weiler have been awarded the Grand Prix at this year’s APG Creative Strategy Awards for their work on the Australian National Preventive Health Agency campaign, ‘How Suffering Made People Quit’. The winning case – which also took out the Grand Effie at this year’s dedicated effectiveness awards – also scored the pair Gold and the special prize for Best Insight/Input.

Bravo! Awards Announce 2014 Global Award Winners
Five Australian agencies were presented with six Global Awards at last night’s Bravo! Awards in Sydney. A celebration of the world’s best healthcare advertising, the ceremony run by The Communications Council is one of two Global Awards presentations, with a second taking place in New York City the same day.

2014 APG Creative Strategy Awards Finalists Announced
The Communications Council’s Account Planning Group has today announced the shortlist for the 2014 APG Creative Strategy Awards, with 27 from a total of 99 entries gaining a finalist spot.
Saatchi & Saatchi leads the way with three finalists, followed by Leo Burnett Melbourne, DDB Group Melbourne, AJF Partnership Melbourne, M&C Saatchi Sydney, Leo Burnett Sydney, and JWT Sydney – all with two finalist spots. The

Australia’s pre-eminent creative industries body AWARD, is delighted to announce Dan Wieden, Co-founder and Chairman of Wieden+Kennedy, has been appointed Chairman of Judges for the 36th AWARD Awards.

Margaret Zabel Accepts Senior Marketing Role At Mcdonalds After Three Years As Ceo Of The Communications Council
Following three years as CEO of The Communications Council, Margaret Zabel has accepted VP Marketing role at McDonalds and will be leaving The Communications Council at the end of December.
Under Margaret’s leadership, the industry body has forged a number of important alliances including confirming an international association with the UK’s IPA and forming greater ties with the AANA and MFA through the development of collaborative best practice projects and industry events.

APMA Star Award Winners 2014 – Leo Burnett Melbourne Takes Home Grand Prix
The Communications Council’s Australasian Promotional Marketing Association (APMA) today announces the winners of the 2014 APMA Star Awards, following last night’s annual awards presentation, held at the Shangri-La in Sydney.
It was a successful evening for Leo Burnett Melbourne, which received three gold awards for Peters Ice Cream, SPC Ardmona and 7-Eleven, as well as the coveted Grand Prix for #SPCSunday – a campaign which leveraged user-generated content to raise awareness and money for Australia’s oldest and declining fruit processor, SPC Ardmona.

APMA STar Awards Finalists Announced
A total of 21 agencies, 36 clients and 44 campaigns have made it through to the 81 finalist spots in the Australasian Promotional Marketing Association’s Star Awards.
The agencies that secured the most nominations were Leo Burnett Melbourne with 13, Momentum Worldwide with 10 and ApolloNation with nine.

Rise In Entries To Apma Star Awards 2014
Entries to the APMA Star Awards have risen significantly this year, with a 32% increase in entries from 2013.
An additional nine new agencies entered submissions, spanning the specialisms of Experiential, Promotional, Creative, PR, Media, and Digital.

Creative Is A Man’s Job – Award Tackles The Gender Gap At Semi-Permanent
Creative is a man’s job – according to figures from The Communications Council’s latest Salary Survey (2013).
The findings are released ahead of a dedicated panel discussion at Thursday’s Semi-Permanent event, addressing ‘The Creativity Gap’. Presented by the Australasian Writers and Art Directors Association (AWARD), the discussion will welcome female creatives, Rebecca Carrasco (Creative Director at Clemenger BBDO), Kieran Flanagan (Creative Director at McCann), and Mietta McFarlane (Copywriter, Droga5) to investigate why our industry is ignoring the business imperative to achieve a gender balanced workforce and how the situation can be reversed.

35th ANNUAL AWARD Awards Winners Announced
A total of 24 gold awards were presented at this year’s ceremony, with 81 silver, and 143 bronze.
McCann Melbourne achieved unprecedented success, becoming a record seventeen-time gold winner across 12 categories for its ‘Dumb Ways to Die’ campaign, as well as taking home Agency of the Year.
Three Gold awards were presented to FCB New Zealand across Film and Video, Direct Marketing and Digital for the ‘Driving Dogs’ campaign, with a further Gold in the Digital category awarded to DDB DM9JaymeSyfu/Digit in Digital for ‘TXTBKS’. Clemenger BBDO New Zealand also took home Gold in Film and Video for ‘Blazed’, while Clemenger BBDO Melbourne scored two for ‘Melbourne Remote Control Tourist’ in the Film and Video and Digital categories – a campaign which was also awarded Best in Show by Sir John Hegarty, Chairman of Judging.
Sir John Hegarty said: “Creating something fresh that unlocks a genuine consumer advantage is rare. This idea utilises technology to deliver an experience that gives Melbourne a competitive edge. I wish I’d done it.”
The award for Network of the Year went to BBDO, while Metro Trains topped the list for Client of the Year, and Finch for Production Company of the Year.

The Australian Effie Awards Call for Entries opens today, with 20 categories available …
