100 Strong Jury To Judge 35Th Award Awards

AWARD, Australia’s pre-eminent creative industries body, today announces the line-up of the 35th AWARD Awards judges to work under Chairman of Judges, Sir John Hegarty (BHH).

Selected Chairmen, judging alongside Sir John, include:

Bravo! Awards Announce 2013 Global Award Winners

The World’s Best Healthcare Advertising was celebrated in The Blue Beat in Double Bay, Sydney on Friday 15th November, at the 2013 Bravo! Awards, supported by The Communications Council.

Announcing the local winners of the 2013 Global Awards, which were also celebrated in a ceremony in New York City on the same date, The Bravo! Awards presented seven of the international trophies to six Australian agencies.

The Communications Council, Mfa And Aana Address Industry Reputation

Business integrity, leadership and collaboration high on client agenda.

Innovation, creativity and the workplace have been highlighted as the top three strengths of the Australian marketing communications industry in the eyes of today’s clients.

The findings, which show Australian marketing agencies are highly regarded among clients but have work to do in building the trust of the general public, were released at a presentation evening at Lion in Sydney by The Communications Council and The Media Federation of Australia (MFA), as part of a major industry reputation study developed by AMR Research to provide a benchmark for reputation progress.

CPC Launches Standard Production Agreement

The Commercial Producers Council (CPC) today announces the release of a Standard Production Agreement and Terms & Conditions, developed to assist all parties operating in the area of commercial production. While each production project operates within different parameters, standardising the process clarifies responsibilities and creates better efficiencies. It does not remove the need for negotiation but should act as a guide for parties to operate within the spirit of sustainable business partnerships.

One of the world’s most awarded and respected admen, Sir John is co-founder of global ad agency, BBH, overseeing the organisation’s creative output across its six international offices. Having worked at the forefront of the creative industry for more than six decades, he has been responsible for a range of ground-breaking campaigns for the likes of Audi, Lego and Levi’s – including the fashion brand’s iconic ads starring Nick Kamen, Brad Pitt, and the furry yellow puppet, Flat Eric.

Gareth Kay Announced As Chairman Of Judges For Apg Planning Idol

The Communications Council’s Account Planning Group will hold its second biannual Planning Idol Awards on 25th October, with the deadline for entries set for the 25th September.

Unlike other awards programs, APG Planning Idol is not linked to case studies. Creating a level playing field, a brief set, based on a significant social issue, which poses a simple challenge. The differentiator is the quality of the thinking demonstrated in those responses. This year’s brief is a fundraising challenge set by The United Nations to support those affected by the Syrian conflict.

The 2013 Grand Effie Award Goes To Whybin\Tbwa Sydney Car Creation

• Whybin\TBWA Sydney takes out The Grand Effie • Nine Gold Effies awarded overall • Whybin\TBWA Sydney takes out The Effective Agency of the Year

The annual Australian Effie Awards, run by The Communications Council, celebrated 22 winning agencies and clients at last night’s gala Effie dinner at the Sydney Convention Centre.

It was a very successful evening for Whybin\TBWA Sydney, which was awarded the prestigious Grand Effie for the NRMA Insurance Car Creation campaign. Proving its effectiveness across several categories, ‘Car Creation’ also took away Gold in ‘Best State’ and ‘Other Services’, while scoring a Silver Effie in the ROI category.

Close to 300 industry professionals, sponsors, and graduates attended the AWARD School Graduation ceremony at The Loft in Sydney last night to celebrate some of Australia’s freshest new creative talent.

The top 10 graduates from the 2013 class of 100 students were announced at the Google-sponsored event, where Dane Van Veen was awarded top student, followed by Patrick Allenby who took second, and Nick Cole in third.

Moving to Sydney’s Chauvel Cinema on 21st August before heading to Adelaide, this year’s showcase will reveal a selection of the most interesting, innovative and unexpected campaigns from Cannes 2013, following an introduction from the festival’s very own Chairman, Terry Savage.

Top 10 Graduates Announced At Award School Graduation In Melbourne

The top 10 graduates from the 2013 AWARD School in Melbourne were announced last night at a ceremony at Smart Artz, attended by more than 120 industry professionals, media, sponsors, and graduates who joined to celebrate some of Australia’s freshest new creative talent.

Industry veteran John McLaren has been reappointed Chairman of The Communications Council in South Australia, taking over the role this month from his successor, Jamie Scott, who held the position since July 2011.

APG Presents ‘Unexpected Media Thinking’ Panel Featuring new look APG committee

The Account Planning Group (APG), powered by The Communications Council, will present ‘Unexpected Media Thinking’ on Tuesday 28th May – the first APG Ideas Exchange panel debate to be led by members of the new look committee.

Committee representatives sitting on the panel include: Katie Rigg Smith (CEO, Mindshare), Sophie Price (Head of Planning, The Hallway), and Mel Mullins (Strategy Director, UM). Simon Lee (Creative Partner, The Hallway) will also join the list, with APG Chairman, Russ Mitchinson, taking the role of moderator.

Account Management Group Launches In NSW’Are suits nothing more than bag carriers?’

The Account Management Group (AMG), powered by The Communications Council, launches in NSW on Monday 3rd June with a debate set to tackle one of the biggest frustrations facing today’s advertising and media Account Managers.

Signalling a key driver behind the group’s formation, the issue of reputation will be confronted head on, as a panel of industry leaders answer the question: ‘Are suits nothing more than bag carriers?’

The debate promises to be feisty and provocative, with the subject tilting heads from all corners of the industry in recent press. Network 10’s Executive General Manager, Russel Howcroft, will mediate the discussion, and panellists join from Account Management, Strategy and Planning, Creative, Media and client-side roles to have their say.

APMA, has announced the finalists for the 2013 APMA Star Awards, celebrating the finest promotional and experiential marketing work from the past year.

Finalists were selected by a panel of 34 judges, across 16 categories.

Gender Diversity Launches Work Streams To Tackle Gender Imbalance

The Gender Diversity Working Group, has launched three industry work streams, which over the coming months will develop a set of practical tools to assist organisations’ management in securing a gender balanced workforce.

Action comes following months of research into the issue of gender diversity within the marketing communications industry, including recent findings revealing that 74% of women claimed they have been treated differently in the workplace because of their gender.

AWARD Award Winners Announced

A total of 12 gold awards were presented at this year’s ceremony in Sydney, Australia – the culmination of the three-day 2013 Circus festival of Commercial Creativity.

It was a successful evening for Ogilvy & Mather Advertising Shanghai, becoming a four-time gold winner for its ‘Cokehands’ campaign, while Colenso BBDO & Finch and George Patterson Y&R Melbourne were awarded two gold trophies each. Receiving recognition for the ‘Beer Chase’ campaign in the Film and Video category, gold was presented to Clemenger BBDO Melbourne. The DDB Group Sydney also received gold in the Print category for the ‘Park Assist Technology’ campaign, while Finch – 37 Degrees was awarded gold for its campaign ‘37 Degrees Glasses’.

The last of the gold awards was given to Whybin\TBWA Sydney for the ‘NRMA – Car Creation’ campaign in the Digital category, which also received the title of Best in Show.

The Australasian Writers and Art Directors Association (AWARD) today launches its first iPad app in a progressive move that will make the work of AWARD awards winners accessible in an annually-updated digital showcase.

Replacing the traditional printed winners annual, the new app will present the campaign work from last year’s March event held at Carriageworks – the 33rd AWARD awards.

The Communications Council has confirmed the final line-up of keynote speakers for the 2013 Circus Festival of Commercial Creativity with the announcement of Farrah Bostic, Founder of The Difference Engine, and Craig Davis, Chairman of AWARD and former Co-Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of Publicis Mojo.

2013 APG Battle of Big Thinking Returns: Speakers from Kogan Technologies, Goodby Silverstein & Partners and Shoes of Prey confirmed

The Account Planning Group (APG), powered by The Communications Council, today announces the return of the Battle of Big Thinking on March 20.

Created in the spirit of celebrating big thinking leading to big ideas, Battle will be held on the second day of the Circus Festival of Commercial Creativity and will explore the societal context within which creativity operates.

Hosted by rising star, comic and actor Eddie Perfect, it promises to rival previous years in terms of calibre of speakers and insights shared.

The Effies Awards 2013 Call For Entries Opens

The Effies call for entries opens today, with 19 categories open for entry.

Effies Chairman Matthew Melhuish stressed the importance of continuing to build Australia’s culture of accountability and effectiveness and said “The Effies saw strong performance in 2012 in terms of the quality and quantity of entries and we hope to continue that this year.”

JWT China’s Mayan Joins As Award Award Chairman Of Judges: Award Chair Line-Up Confirmed

AWARD, Australia’s pre-eminent body representing creatives, is pleased to confirm that JWT’s Lo Sheung Yan, known as Mayan among his peers, will be leading the judging of the 2013 AWARD Awards.

Mayan is currently JWT’s Asia Pacific Creative Council’s Chairman. In the industry since 1996, Mayan has helped JWT collect accolades such as AdFest’s Network Agency of the Year in 2008, Media Spikes and Adfest’s Network Agency of the Year in 2009, as well as securing its first gold Clio and first grand prix at Cannes 2011 during his tenure.
