Job Description

We are looking for an Account Director in Sydney; the satellite office for ANZ that reports into the Singapore APAC hub. Reporting into the Group Account Director and working with a small Account Management team, Account Directors at MAL must be natural leaders and communicators, able to juggle multiple responsibilities.

This role will be accountable for overseeing and managing the localisation workstream, which includes project management and delivery of Apple advertising campaigns in ANZ across multiple product lines, including hardware and services. The Account Director ensures flawless execution of projects while being the driver of larger objectives of both the client and the agency.

The Work

  • Serve as a key partner to our ad manager and brand manager clients as well as agency leadership, providing clear POV’s while managing multiple stakeholders
  • Contribute to the strategic/business discussions with clients
  • Participate in Client workshares; learning to present work alongside strategic, creative and media partners.
  • Strive to understand the business + cultural opportunities within each market and partner with ANZ Clients during the development and localisation of any campaign or project.
  • Become an expert in our client’s business and develop solid knowledge of the brand & its products and audiences, instilling this knowledge into the work, meetings and into the team.
  • Shepherd, and champion ideas – make the work better by bringing fresh thinking and relevant POVs to the table while ensuring it is strategically sound and culturally relevant.
  • Be responsible for the overall quality control of the creative output on the campaigns you manage.
  • Oversee the localisation, production and delivery of all ANZ campaigns including film, OOH, display, digital / social assets.
  • Track any key production, timings and media shifts and ensure these are communicated to relevant stakeholders.
  • Oversee ANZ media in partnership with our media teams, aligning on deliverables, timing and ensuring these ladder to the Client’s priorities and product strategy.
  • Develop a deep understanding of agency processes, tools, and capabilities to get the work done effectively and efficiently.  Beyond this, think outside the box to problem solve new work processes & solutions that may not be the ‘norm’.

Collaboration & People Management

  • Maintain strong, trusting, open relationships with internal departments & global MAL counterparts
  • Engage and adapt to any audience, always considering context when communicating with others
  • Ensure proper training of junior team members and share best practices or learnings with the Account Department
  • Model exemplary client management skills to the rest of the department: be responsible for the team showing up to meetings the MAL way – simple, buttoned up, with exceptional thinking
  • Actively track progress of team members through regular performance check-ins, ensuring they have clear goals, direct feedback & balanced workloads to grow appropriately
