Salary Survey

About the dashboard

Advertising Council Australia’s Salary Survey dashboard is the largest collection of salary information for creative agencies in Australia. The dashboard represents a comprehensive market view of the advertising industry’s current pay practice.

The latest 2023 survey comprised data from 123 agencies nationally, across 171 positions and incorporated 5,050 staff salaries across permanent and part-time roles. Data reflects salaries as of March 30 2023.

We now have 13 years of salary data dating back to 2009. The only years missing are 2015 and 2020.

Last year’s survey yielded some interesting results:

  • The average salary for permanent positions was $136,900, a $5,800 increase from 2022.
  • Our membership is now 57% female and 43% male compared to 48% female and 52% male in 2017.
  • Senior management is now 42% female and 58% male compared to 22% female and 78% male in 2022.

ACA’s salary survey is intended to guide agency management in benchmarking salaries, and assisting in preparing fair and competitive pay policies to attract and retain the best employees for the business. It is valuable for planning and adapting business models to meet current and future resource demands.

ACA has not collected salary data in 2024 due to unforeseen changes to our Tableau dashboard provider and delays in data migration. The dashboard remains accessible to our participating members and reflects March 30 2023 census data.
